The most popular question we are asked is: “Are supplements necessary and do they work?” The answer to this question is not as straight forward as you may think it should be. In short, they are not always necessary and not all of them “work”. Our staff has the experience to tell you which ones should work and which ones are pure marketing fluff.

Creating an industry estimated to have a 2015 value of $37 billion, there are more than 50,000 dietary supplement products marketed just in the United States, where about 50% of the American adult population consumes dietary supplements. Multivitamins are the most commonly used product. For those who fail to consume a balanced diet, the United States National Institutes of Health states that certain supplements “may have value.”

What does this mean?

For many people, it means that if you cannot or do not eat a balanced healthy diet then supplements may help replenish certain things missing from your food. In other cases, it could help supplement your diet to achieve higher dosages of certain ingredients than would be feasible to eat in your daily diet.
